London based artist and musician Thomas Armstrong who performs as DUNCE has announced debut album Life? Or Theatre? and a shared new single with Full Power Records. The album was born from improvisation and exploration into ambient territories, equip with a four-track cassette recorder and a trumpet, Armstrong creates minimalist soundscapes with a spacious soothing quality. On the first single 'Vertical Thinking', he combines warm tape loops that have gently glitching effect as they build and layer over eachother, accompanied by improvised trumpet lines that drift along side the mellow electronics. The track comes with a mesmerising animated video made by artists Alfie Millar that serves as the perfect visual accompaniment to the hypnotic audio. Life?
